SaleBarn West is a free price tracker for Western Canadian auction markets. This page explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect, why we collect it and what choices you have. We follow the principles of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- Your email address, if you sign up for our newsletter.
- Nothing else from you. This site has no analytics, no advertising trackers and no tracking cookies. You can use every page, including the calculators, without signing up or giving us any information.
- Basic technical data handled by our host. Like any website, our hosting provider receives standard technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) when your device loads a page. This is used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, not to identify you.
Why we collect it
We use your email address only to send you the weekly SaleBarn West newsletter. By subscribing you consent to this use, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing.
Who processes it
- Beehiiv, our email newsletter provider (a US-based company), stores the subscriber list and sends the newsletter for us. Your email address is stored on Beehiiv's systems, which may be outside Canada.
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
These service providers handle information on our behalf and under their own security and privacy terms. We don't share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
We don't sell your data
We never sell, rent or trade your email address or any other personal information. Advertisers and sponsors never get our subscriber list.
Where your data is stored
Our service providers may store and process information outside Canada. In particular, our newsletter provider Beehiiv is based in the United States, so newsletter subscriber data may be stored outside Canada. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country, which may allow authorities there to access it.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you're subscribed. When you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we remove it, keeping only what's needed to make sure you aren't emailed again.
Unsubscribing
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you'll stop getting emails.
Access, correction and deletion
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.

If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please email us first so we can fix it. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date.
